The Choice Filling phase is arguably the most critical step in the entire JoSAA counselling journey. Unlike traditional ranking where you simply list what you want irrespective of rank, a strategic choice list requires balancing aspiration, realistic expectations, and safety nets. Always order your choices in strict descending order of desire, completely ignoring whether you think you will actually get the seat. The JoSAA algorithm evaluates your choices starting from preference #1 and works downwards. It stops at the first choice where a seat is available based on your merit rank.
